Christine Arnold has signed on with the Architecture Program at the University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation to teach “Computer Applications in Architecture” this fall. In 2006 the course was re-tooled by principal Ron Schneck and Mark Ramirez with a pedagogy of workshops and critique. Square 134 personell have since been the course’s stewards, teaching or participating in reviews each semester. Christine is excited to continue this trend.
Tomorrow, July 22nd, Christine Arnold will sit on a review panel for University of Maryland’s Discovering Architecture summer course for high school students.
Jonathan Healey will lead the thesis program for the Interior Design and Exhibition Design programs at the Corcoran College of Art + Design for the 2011-2012 academic year. Because the Corcoran’s thesis curriculum is conceived as the bridge between academia and practice, one of Jonathan’s roles will entail engaging a broad and intellectually diverse cadre of professionals from the Washington, DC design community. In this mutually beneficial model, practical knowledge benefits students and inchoate ideas provoke an already evolving professional field.
Ron Schneck is quoted in Brooks Butler Hays’ post on the DCMUD blog highlighting the promise of the latest Jubilee Housing in Adams morgan. This renovation will be the second Jubilee project designed by Square 134. The nearby Ontario Court apartment building renovation was completed earlier this year.
